Grading is going slower than I'd like, so let's hold off on a reading for Monday. I'll lecture Monday, and we'll resume readings for Wednesday/Friday. I'll post readings for Tuesday/Thursday tomorrow.

We're working with project implicit tomorrow. Come to the computer lab on the second floor instead of your classroom.

Watch this video before class on Wednesday/Thursday. Further instructions will be posted this afternoon.

Also, listen to this recording and check out this website.

Warning: the website is a collection of the last words of people who were about to be executed in Texas. It is not easy to read, but it makes our legal violence more real, and that's why I want you to look at it.

My mother-in-law is in town, so I'm going to chill with her today. We'll flip the classroom on Monday/Tuesday, so just show up and then be ready to watch a lecture at home.

Readings for the week of Good Friday

I forgot to post the readings until just now, so we're just going to read them in class. If you really want a preview, Monday/Tuesday we'll be reading "Shooting an Elephant" by Ernest Hemingway and Wednesday/Thursday we'll be reading "Battle Royal" by Ralph Ellison (it's chapter one of his novel Invisible Man).

Meetings

I've just sent out the following email:

Next week, I'm going to meet to talk with you about your first papers. This will be in place of class. Once we meet, you'll have some specific things I want you to work on. After our first meeting, bring your paper back to me to show me you've completed the edits. This will count as your attendance and quiz grades for the week. Don't put this all of until Friday, as some of you will have a lot of work to do.

Available times:
Monday/Wednesday/Friday:
7:30-10:00
11:00-12:00
1:00-2:30

Tuesday/Thursday 9:00-11:00

Please make sure to bring a physical copy of your paper or your laptop with the paper pulled up as my work computer has been acting a fool.

Thanks,

Grant.

I won't have the reading list up tonight, but I'll do my best to have it completed and online by noon tomorrow.
